Yunomine Onsen is located between the Akagi-goe and Dainichi-goe sections of the Nakahechi route (The Imperial Route to Kumano) on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage network. The Dainichi-goe route is a short (3.5 km / 2.17 miles) but relatively steep trail over Mt. Dainichi that connects Kumano Hongu Taisha with Yunomine Onsen. It typically takes about 70 to 100 minutes, including breaks.
Since there are no train lines in the mountainous interior of the southern Kii Peninsula, you will need to take a bus to reach Yunomine Onsen. Please note that the information below is current as of March 01, 2026. Please check the latest schedule before your trip, as bus times may change seasonally.
Some bus companies use the spelling "Yunomine Onsen" (湯峰温泉) while others use "Yunomine Onsen" (湯の峰温泉). Both refer to the same location.
