WHAT WE ARE
The shared living room where the afternoon sun penetrates is Japanese style with tatami mats. We put a kotatsu in winter. You can experience the atmosphere of the Japanese countryside.
The facilities are not up-to-date as it is an aged building, but we try to keep the inside of the building and the rooms as clean as possible.
The service is simpler than a hotel's, so the room rate is cheaper. It is also recommended for solo tourists, couples and families with kids.

WHAT GUESTS SAY
Absolutely loved the private onsens, traditional Japanese common space, complimentary drinks/rice, and kind staff. It's quite rare to get access to a private outdoor onsen - especially at a hostel - so that was definitely a highlight. Great atmosphere in all senses!
it was all great, the only thing is when people don't think of others and walk around the room on the upper floor like an elephant, (you can hear it in the dorm down below) maybe just to give the hint to future guests that it would be great for all, if one would think of others. :)
Extremely well maintained & clean. Staff was also kind enough and had offered the option to use the room / facilities (until my bus arrived) even after my check out, given the circumstance.
Parking space was only for 4 cars. So we had to go to public parking which was 5 minutes walking distance.
Cooking my meal in their lovely and so well-organized kitchen and then enjoying it with a cold beer in their traditional Japanese sitting area was just lovely. I staid in the women capsule rooms; very spacious and comfortable.
In the evening when most guests were back from hiking, the onsen baths and kitchen got very crowded (need to queue for the baths) so plan your time wisely.
